LA Needs Motion Passed Flyer We are not targets 2016

YESTERDAY, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PASSED THE MOTION to study the possibility of splitting Youth from Adults within the L.A. County Probation Department! Now we need to work to make this change REAL and LASTING, including pushing for a Youth Development Department – not a Baby Probation Department for young people.

Thank you to everyone who came out – including 28 YJC youth leaders pictured in the photo above. Much love to everyone who testified!!

LA Needs a New Way forward probation flyer camp yjc 2016

Youth “line up” with hands in “hand-cuff” position, to leave a dehumanizing and delapidated dorm at an
LA County Probation camp. LA has as many youth detention centers and youth prisons as it does community
colleges. When jails are counted, LA has more lock-ups than colleges.

Join us now to push the LA County Board of Supervisors to pass a motion to study
the possibility of splitting youth from adults within the LA County Probation Department.

Che Guevara valentine's Day 2016 YJC Love the youth

“At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great
feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality. Perhaps,
it is one of the great dramas of the leader that he or she must combine a passionate spirit
with a cold intelligence and make painful decisions without flinching. Revolutionaries must
idealize this love of the people, of the most sacred causes, and make it one and indivisible.
They cannot descend, with small doses of daily affection, to the level where ordinary people
put their love into practice…In these circumstances one must have a great deal of humanity
and a strong sense of justice and truth in order not to fall into extreme dogmatism and cold
scholasticism, into isolation from the masses. We must strive every day so that this love of
living humanity will be transformed into actual deeds, into acts that serve as examples,
as a moving force.”
– Ernesto “Che” Guevara
